Don’t know how to convert your e-comerce website visitors into buyers? Okay, don’t worry! Here are answers and solutions!Learn how to optimise your e-commerce website and start converting your e-commerce website visitors into buyers.
Tip # 1 Avoid Duplicate Content
Since the launch of Google Penguin update back in April 2012, Google Search Engine has started focusing on quality and unique content. Although Google has always insisted on quality web content but now it is focusing on it like never before. If your site’s pages have duplicate content, you are gone! If ever Google finds duplicate content on your website, it may start penalizing it and may stop it showing in search engine result page. So make sure your site has unique, fresh and straight to the point content. Make periodic checks to ensure your content is up to date with latest updates about your products and description.
Tip # 2 Customer friendly product description
Most of the Ecommerce Stores come with product’s technical description that is mostly hard to understand from a consumer point of view. So rephrase that content. Make it user friendly. Write up it in a very easy to understand, simple language. But yes, take care not to change the meaning! Also, include necessary description like how to use, expiry date, warning etc.
Tip # 3 Optimize Product Images
Most common mistakes many E-Commerce website owners and webmasters make is they don’t optimise their images. While most E-Commerce sites are mainly loaded with images, all or most images are left unoptimised and thus they miss the opportunity to rank well in search engines. Well, here is an easy way to optimise your images and ranking well on search engine:
Whenever you are inserting image into your webpage, always use ‘alt’ tag. Write a narrative, easy to understand and relevant but short description of what the image is about and also, give your image a logical name. Rather than naming your image like image1.jpg or prodcutimage.jpg, use product’s actual name in image name. For example, if your image is about the shoes product (say nike or adidas) then name it as ‘adidas-boys-shoes.jpg’ or ‘adidas-shoes-boys.jpg’ or something like that which is logical and easy to understand. This way you can get better ranking in search engine and your images can have higher priorities when people search for images in Google and other search engines.
Tip # 4 Have Unique Meta Descriptions for Every Webpage
Another trick is to use unique and relevant meta tags for each page. Don’t use same meta titles, description for all pages. While you are writing meta title and description for your pages, remember two points: 1) Use unique meta title and description, and 2) use page relevant meta title and description. Using unique and relevant meta for your pages gives Google an understanding that the content on website is well organised and well written and has both originality and usability for users and hence gives your site a chance to rank higher in Search Engine Result Pages – SERPs
Tip # 5 Encourage customers for their Reviews
‘Customer is King, and king can do no wrong’ – Believe on this line and encourage your customers to write reviews for your products on your website. Recent survey shows that website visitors are more likely to make a purchase from your site if they see positive customer reviews/feedback for your products on your site. So go and ask them to write reviews, but yes, be prepared for negative reviews as well! It may be possible that an unhappy customer write bad review for your product or service, in such case, don’t be shy or afraid, just reply with apology and compensation.
