Google reduces authorship appearance in SERPs to hit back at low quality sites

Google has reduced Google authorship snippet in search result by 15%. The reduction is targeted  at low quality sites in an effort to push high quality, authoritative content in SERPs.

For those who don’t know or have question about authorship snippet, it is a great tool to establish and earn authorship in search results. It not only establishes authenticity of the content but also establishes reputation of the content creator in the respective niche. A few months back Google’s head of web spam team Matt Cutts warned low quality sites that Google might be reducing or even removing authorship abilities in SERPs for such low quality sites that do not provide values to users.

It seems that Google has finally struck with the hit! Yes, Google has reportedly reduced authorship appearance in Search Engine Result Pages by 15% (as reported by Barry Schwartz of Search Engine Roundtable).
